How Pet Urine Removal Treatment P.U.R.T.® Works

When P.U.R.T.® reaches contact with your pet's urine, it immediately begins a chemical reaction that destroys it for good.

1. With your guidance, our technician locates the area(s) of the carpet that contains pet urine odor. The source and severity of the odor are determined. We use an ultra-violet (black) light, a moisture meter, eye site, and yes, our noses to identify and smell the problem areas. Locating all the areas that contain urine is a key step to eliminating the odor.
2. After locating the urine areas, the carpet will be rinsed and extracted with a hot-water rinse to remove the bulk of the urine crystals. We perform this general cleaning and hot carbonating extraction on the entire carpeted areas as the first step. The areas cleaned with hot water extraction will usually take just 2-3 hours to dry.
3. After performing the general carpet cleaning and extraction we apply P.U.R.T.® (Pet Urine Removal Treatment) to the areas or spots that contain urine. It is necessary to thoroughly apply enough P.U.R.T.® to dampen all areas affected by your pet's urine for maximum effectiveness. We apply enough product to ensure it permeates the carpet bad and even the subfloor if necessary.
4. We intentionally leave the areas treated with P.U.R.T.® wet. These targeted areas will take about 24 to 36 hours to completely dry and over this time period the ingredients in P.U.R.T.® will oxidize the urine crystals and eliminate the odor. Urine crystals are the cause or source of the odor and they naturally take about five years to dissipate. The P.U.R.T.® escalates the process to just 24 to 36 hours.
5. We also recommend treating the carpet in rooms containing odor with a Sanitizer and Deodorizer. This will further eliminate odors that have permeated the carpet and other fabrics.
6. In very severe but rare cases, the carpet may need to be pulled back from the suspected areas to reveal the extent of the damage. If necessary, the pad will be removed and replaced. An odor-blocking protectant may also applied to the subfloor if the damage is severe. P.U.R.T.® will then be applied heavily to the tack strip, flooring, baseboards and carpet backing.
